New Trends in Cardiology Imaging, Coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) is an established noninvasive test of coronary anatomy that can be used in the management of coronary artery disease (CAD) and plaque assessment. The implementation of CCTA in managing stable patients with chest pain and suspected CAD is newly trending in cardiology imaging. CCTA is emerging as the initial test of choice in low- and intermediate-risk patients with suspected CAD. In addition to stenosis assessment, CCTA can depict atherosclerosis burden, determine functional significance of a stenotic lesion, and be used to drive clinical decision-making in the management and treatment of stable CAD.
